Free Thanksgiving Food Distribution

Dear Friends,

This has been a challenging year for everyone.

In an effort to make sure no families go hungry this holiday season, I have partnered with the Pacoima Neighborhood Council and Meet Each Need with Dignity (MEND) to host a Free Thanksgiving Food Distribution Drive-Thru and Walk-Thru Event. The event will take place on Friday, November 20, 2020 from 9-11a.m. at MEND in Pacoima.

Address: 10641 N. San Fernando Rd., Pacoima, CA 91331

Resources to Prepare

Due to potential wildfire inducing conditions, Southern California Edison (SCE) has issued a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) warning for portions of our region today and tomorrow. Depending on weather conditions, the PSPS may be longer. My office is in constant communication with SCE as well as cities, school districts, public safety agencies and utilities in our district. While the exact locations of the possible PSPS are still to be determined, it is important to do several things to prepare.

Preparing for a Power Outage:

Recursos para mantenerse fresco de manera eficiente

¡Las temperaturas de verano en California no son una broma! En el futuro cercano se esperan altas temperaturas y los centros de enfriamiento locales ofrecen una forma segura y confiable para que tú y tu familia puedan escapar del calor. Toma en cuenta que esas horas pueden variar según la ubicación, y es posible que se requieran cubiertas faciales al ingresar.

Resources to Stay Cool Efficiently

Summer temperatures in California are no joke! With high temperatures expected for the near future, local cooling centers offer a safe and reliable way for you and your family to escape the heat. Keep in mind that hours may vary based on location, and face coverings may be required upon entering.

Resources to help you prepare for a wildfire

Every year, wildfires burn throughout California. As we experienced in the recent Saddleridge Fire, which burned over 8,700 acres, our community is not immune to the threat of wildfires. In the last few years, we have seen many communities, homes and businesses destroyed by wildfires.

Holiday Mixer and Donation Drive

Wising you and your family a Happy Holiday Season,

Council President-Elect Nury Martinez and I invite you to a Holiday Mixer & Donation Drive on December 18, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Join in on the festivities, and listen in on end-of-year legislative updates. Food, pastries, and refreshments will be provided, so come and enjoy the holidays with your neighbors. This is also a great time to discuss any legislative issues of concern.

This holiday season please consider donating an unused book or toy for the children most in need this year.

Coronavirus: What You Should Know

The California Assembly is working with the Governor to ensure that our public agencies have all the resources they need to combat the emerging threat of the novel coronavirus, AKA COVID-19.

As your State Assemblymember, I will work with local health authorities, school districts and other entities to ensure that all are responding together to prevent and address risks associated with coronavirus.

Current advice is similar to preparing for other viruses:

Coronavirus: COVID-19 & State Resources

As you may already know, State and Local leaders across California are ramping up their efforts to provide resources to our communities in order to combat the novel COVID-19, more commonly known as Coronavirus. Information on COVID-19 is changing at a rapid pace. As our Community and the State is adapting to these changes, I have provided you with a list of information and resources to help you get some assistance and guidance as you prepare for the upcoming weeks of uncertainty.
