SACRAMENTO – At the United Nations’ 2021 Climate Change Conference (COP26), Assemblywoman Luz Rivas (D-San Fernando Valley), Assemblymember Lisa Calderon (D-Whittier), Assemblymember Chris Ward (D-San Diego) learned that the world is surpassing California on climate change education.

Assemblywoman Luz Rivas’ Equestrian Rider Safety Bill Signed into Law

SACRAMENTO – Today, Governor Gavin Newsom signed Assemblywoman Luz Rivas’ (D-San Fernando Valley) Assembly Bill (AB) 974, enacting it into law. AB 974 is a constituent-led measure that improves the safety and visibility of equestrian riders and their equines while on paved highways.

Legislature Approves Assemblywoman Luz Rivas’ Bill to Remove the Derogatory Term “Alien” from State Law, Heads to the Governor’s Desk

SACRAMENTO – Today, the California State Legislature passed Assemblywoman Luz Rivas’ (D-Arleta) Assembly Bill (AB) 1096. The bill now heads to the Governor’s desk for signature. AB 1096 eliminates the offensive term “alien” from all state laws and policies, replacing it with other language that is more reflective of today’s legal terminology, such a “noncitizen” or “immigrant.”
