Assemblywoman Luz Rivas Presents $5 million to the Northeast Valley Health Corporation

LOS ANGELES – Today, Assemblywoman Luz Rivas (D – San Fernando Valley) presented $5 million to the Northeast Valley Health Corporation (NEVHC) to address health inequities affecting the 39th Assembly District. The state funds will go towards much needed medical, telehealth and office equipment, in NEVHC’s 17 community health centers.

When natural disasters such as hurricanes, wildfires or tornadoes strike in the United States, the calamities are given rankings and names to emphasize the havoc they wreak.

But no similar ranking system exists to highlight the deadly toll of extreme heat, such as the scorching heat wave that is baking the state.
