Caltrans Work Alerts and Interstate 210 Road Updates

Dear Neighbor,

As you may already know, Caltrans has been hard at work with its many repairs to Interstate 210. Earlier this year, I met with Caltrans leadership to discuss priority concerns in the 39^th Assembly District and pushed to secure funding for cleanup efforts on our highways. This is a concern amongst many of my constituents, and that is why I prioritize updating my district with upcoming maintenance projects.

I wanted to give you an update on some of the work that has already been completed and other projects and cleanups that are yet to come.

OCTOBER UPDATES:

• City of San Fernando: Trash cleanups will be taking place on the I-5 and I-210 going North, West, East, and Southbound beginning October 11 – 22.
• Sun Valley: Landscaping will be taking place on the I-5 at Sheldon St., Bradford St., Penrose off-ramp, Sunland Blvd., and Laurel Canyon from October 21 - 29.
• Pacoima: Multiple fence repairs and cleanup along Paxton, behind the baseball field, and along the on-ramp from October 13 - 14.
• Granada Hills: Landscaping on the I-5 along Rinaldi Ave., Bromwich St., and Montague Ct. from October 18 - 19 and again from October 30 - 31.
• Sylmar: Litter control along the I-210 Westbound on Polk St. and Roxford St.’s on and off-ramps, and the connector to I-5 from October 25 - 29.
• Sun Valley to Sylmar: Sweeping on the on-ramp, off-ramp, left and right sides along Osborne St. to Roxford St. from October 20 - 23.

EXTENDED WEEKEND CLOSURES:

Caltrans’ contractor has completed all extended weekend closure work on I-210 between Roxford St. and I-5. Next year, there will be extended weekend closures on WB I-210 at Osborne St./Foothill St., which will include a full closure of the freeway for 55 hours. There is also a possibility for a few more extended weekend closures to be added on EB I-210 near Polk/Hubbard/Maclay, with one lane open for traffic. I will update you if this plan comes to fruition. 

RAMPS, RAMPS, RAMPS:

• EB I-210 Maclay St. ramps are now CLOSED, since September 20, for 45 days.
• EB I-210 Yarnell St. off-ramp was left open for motorists since the contractor completed work ahead of schedule during extended weekend closures.
• EB I-210 Roxford St. ramps are now CLOSED since October 4, for 45 days.
• EB I-210 Hubbard St. ramps are scheduled to CLOSE on October 18, for 28 days.

A reminder that these closures are necessary to allow the contractor extra room for paving work on the right lane and to pave any concrete material on the ramps as needed.

NEW BYPASS LANE:

A bypass lane was implemented on the temporary lane configuration at EB I-210 between I-5 and SR-118. The bypass lane is in between K-rails and allows Caltrans to maintain all lanes of the highway open for motorists while the right lanes are being paved. Please note that the new bypass lane is NOT a carpool lane – anyone can enter. However, you will not be able to exit the lane until just before SR-118. If you need to exit before SR-118, please use the other general-purpose lanes.

Please be alert whenever you are driving in a work zone area. Be mindful of Caltrans workers and heed their directions, as well as all signage instructions. Please be prepared to encounter delays and be ready to use detours.

Alertas de trabajo de Caltrans y actualizaciones de la carretera interestatal 210

Querido vecino,

Como ya sabrá, Caltrans está trabajando arduamente con sus reparaciones a la Interestatal 210. A principios de este año, me reuní con el liderazgo de Caltrans para discutir las prioridades del Distrito 39 de la Asamblea y presioné para asegurar fondos para la limpieza de nuestras carreteras. Esto es una preocupación entre muchos de mis constituyentes, y es por eso que proveo las últimas noticias a mi distrito con los próximos proyectos de mantenimiento.

Quería darles una actualización sobre algunos de los trabajos que ya se han completado y otros proyectos y limpiezas que aún están por venir.

LAS ÚLTIMAS NOTICIAS PARA OCTUBRE:

• Ciudad de San Fernando: La limpieza de basura se llevará a cabo en la I-5 y la I-210 en dirección norte, oeste, este y sur a partir del 11 de octubre hasta el 22 de octubre.
• Sun Valley: El paisajismo se llevará a cabo en la I-5 en Sheldon St., Bradford St., la rampa de salida de Penrose, Sunland Blvd. y Laurel Canyon desde el 21 de octubre hasta el 29 de octubre.
• Pacoima: Varias reparaciones de cercas y limpieza a lo largo de Paxton, detrás del campo de béisbol y a lo largo de la rampa de entrada, desde el 13 al 14 de octubre.
• Granada Hills: Paisajismo en la I-5 a lo largo de Rinaldi Ave., Bromwich St. y Montague Ct. del 18 al 19 de octubre y nuevamente del 30 al 31 de octubre.
• Sylmar: Limpiesa de basura a lo largo de la I-210 en dirección oeste en las rampas de entrada y salida de Polk St. y Roxford St., y el conector a la I-5 desde el 25 de octubre hasta el 29 de octubre.
• Sun Valley a Sylmar: Barrida en la rampa de entrada, rampa de salida, lados izquierdo y derecho a lo largo de Osborne St. hasta Roxford St. del 20 al 23 de octubre.

CIERRES DE FIN DE SEMANA EXTENDIDOS:

El contratista de Caltrans ha completado todo el trabajo extendido del cierre de fin de semana en la I-210 entre Roxford St. y la I-5. El próximo año, habrá cierres de fin de semana prolongados en WB I-210 en Osborne St./Foothill St., los cuales incluirá un cierre completo de la autopista durante 55 horas. También existe la posibilidad de que se agreguen algunos cierres de fin de semana más prolongados en la EB I-210 cerca de Polk/Hubbard/Maclay, con un carril abierto para el tráfico. Les actualizaré si este plan avanza.

RAMPAS, RAMPAS, RAMPAS:

• Las rampas EB I-210 Maclay St. ahora están CERRADAS, desde el 20 de septiembre, por 45 días.
• La rampa de salida EB I-210 Yarnell St. se dejó abierta para los automovilistas ya que el contratista completó el trabajo antes de lo que fue previsto durante los cierres prolongados de fin de semana.
• Las rampas EB I-210 Roxford St. ahora están CERRADAS desde el 4 de octubre, por 45 días.
• Las rampas EB I-210 Hubbard St. están CERRADAS desde el 18 de octubre, por 28 días.

Un recordatorio que estos cierres son necesarios para permitir al contratista el espacio necesario para el trabajo de pavimentación en el carril derecho y para pavimentar cualquier material de concreto en las rampas, según sea necesario.

NUEVO CARRIL DE DERIVACIÓN:

Se implementó un carril de derivación en EB I-210 entre I-5 y SR-118. Este carril de derivación está entre los rieles K y permite que Caltrans mantenga todos los carriles de la carretera abiertos para los automovilistas mientras se pavimentan los carriles derechos. Tenga en cuenta que el nuevo carril de derivación NO es un carril para viajes compartidos; cualquiera puede ingresar. Sin embargo, no podrá salir del carril hasta justo antes de la salida de SR-118. Si necesita salir antes de la SR-118, use los otros carriles de uso general.

Esté alerta siempre cuando conduzca en una zona de trabajo. Tenga en cuenta a los trabajadores de Caltrans y preste atención a sus instrucciones, así como a todas las instrucciones de señalización. Por favor, esté preparado para enfrentar retrasos y esté listo para usar desvíos.
