Assemblywoman Luz Rivas Comments on LA Unified Teacher Strike

For immediate release:

(SACRAMENTO) – Assemblywoman Luz Rivas (D- Arleta) has issued the following statement:

“I have seen firsthand how much teachers do without all of the resources they need to serve their students. As an LAUSD alum and member of the State Assembly, I support LA teachers and hope that negotiations between United Teachers Los Angeles and the school district continue and result in a solution that is responsible and in the best interest of our kids.”

While schools do remain open, additional information and resources can be found below:

Child drop-off locations for working families in the 39th Assembly District: M/W: 10 a.m - 8 p.m; Tu/Th: 12 p.m. - 8 p.m; F/Sa: 9:30 a.m - 5:30 p.m.

The City of Los Angeles is providing the following extended services:

  • Extended Hours, increased staffing, lunch, and programming at select recreation centers.
  • Expanded library programming
  • Free transportation: free rides to LA Unified students between the hours of 5 a.m. and 7 p.m. on regular school days, Student I.D.'s required
  • LA Metro
  • LADOT DASH
  • Commuter Express
