Assemblywoman Luz Rivas Appointed as the Chair of Assembly Natural Resources Committee by Speaker Anthony Rendon

SACRAMENTO – Today, Assemblywoman Luz Rivas (D-Arleta) was appointed as the Chair of the Assembly Natural Resources Committee by Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon (D-Lakewood). This Committee is comprised of 11 members and oversees climate change, CEQA, and coastal protection, among other critical environmental issues.

“I am honored that Speaker Rendon has entrusted me to Chair the Assembly Natural Resources Committee. I look forward to working with the members of my committee and continuing to make strides on environmental policies that impact all Californians,” said Assemblywoman Luz Rivas.

“It doesn't take a scientist to know that California faces critical environmental challenges today, but we will be supremely equipped to face those challenges with a trained scientific mind guiding our Natural Resources Committee. Asm. Rivas has a multifaceted background and a commitment to the environment that will help the Assembly reach a synthesis to solve the state's scientific and policy needs,” said Speaker Anthony Rendon.

Besides her appointment as chair to the Assembly Natural Resources Committee, Assemblywoman Luz Rivas has also been newly appointed to the Assembly Health Committee, and will continue to serve on the Assembly Committees on Budget, Budget Subcommittee No. 3 on Resources and Transportation, Local Government, and Revenue and Taxation when the Legislature reconvenes on January 4, 2021.

Assemblywoman Luz Rivas proudly represents the 39th Assembly District, which includes the City of Los Angeles communities of Arleta, Lake View Terrace, Granada Hills, Mission Hills, North Hollywood, Pacoima, Sun Valley, Sunland-Tujunga, Sylmar, and the City of San Fernando.
