Free Backpack Giveaway

Dear Neighbors,

This Friday, July 21 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m., I am joining L.A. Care Health Plan, the Community Resource Center of Los Angeles, and Blue Shield of California for a Back to School Resource Fair at:

10807 San Fernando Road, Pacoima, CA 91331.

Families with children ages 3 years and up can qualify for one backpack per student, while supplies last. Due to the limited quantity, we highly encourage parents and guardians to be present with their student to receive a backpack.

I look forward to seeing you there!

Welcome to the 43rd Assembly District!

Hello Neighbor,

Please allow me to introduce myself. I am Assemblywoman Luz Rivas, and I represent you in the California State Assembly!

I am thrilled to serve the 43rd Assembly District in California for the next two years. In 2018, I was humbly elected and sworn into the California State Assembly, and it makes me extremely proud to represent a community that has given me so much.

Assemblywoman Luz Rivas: Legislative Successes and District Updates

Hello Neighbor,

In just one month, we will be welcoming the New Year!

This year, I worked to ensure the 39th Assembly District received $32.5 million from the state budget, and passed legislation that would keep Pacifica Hospital of the Valley open and established the first advance warning and ranking system protecting communities like ours in the San Fernando Valley from extreme heat.

California Youth Empowerment Applications are Open!

Dear Neighbor,

In 2021, I passed Assembly Bill (AB) 46, a bill that created the California Youth Empowerment Commission (CYEC) to engage California’s youth in the policy making process. The bill was ultimately signed, and I was able to secure $1.5 million to establish the Commission this year.

Applications are officially open! The Commission provides a unique opportunity for the state’s youth to be civically engaged and make recommendations to the Legislature, Superintendent of Public Instruction, and Governor on specific legislative and fiscal issues.

Estimado vecino,
