Assemblywoman Rivas leads the charge to aid homeless families through new funding, housing, and services

(SACRAMENTO) –Assemblywoman Luz Rivas has been convening stakeholder meetings with California State Agencies, the County of Los Angeles and Advocates to discuss issues impacting homeless families. It quickly became clear that funding targeted for homeless families should be a top priority. “This is why I plan on funding and restructuring a long dormant program that was established as a result of Proposition 1C, of 2006, to incentivize the development of multifamily housing for homeless families,” Rivas said.

Close the gap CA Celebrates 5 Year Anniversary as More Women Join State Legislature

Close the gap CA (ctgCA), a campaign to recruit progressive women to run for the California Legislature, turns five this month. “In our first five years, we have stopped the slide—after over a decade in sharp decline, the number of women serving in the Legislature is now climbing decisively,” said Executive Director Susannah Delano. She added, “in our next 10 years, we are committed to a full campaign for gender parity. California can and should lead the nation with a representative state legislature.”

Rivas Takes Oath to Represent 39th Assembly District

(SACRAMENTO) - Luz Rivas (D-Arleta) took the oath of office to serve as the Assemblymember for the 39th Assembly District today in a special ceremony at the California State Capitol. The oath was administered by Assembly Speaker Anthony Rendon.
